Bearwood Cub Pack

The Bearwood Scout Group has been a part of the Bearwood Community for almost 16 years, lead by a small band of dedicated volunteers.

Originally meeting at the Church Hall (by the Clock Garage, Ringwood Road), back in 1983, we moved to the Community Centre in 1984, soon after it opened. At that time, we were under the guidance of Canford Magna and Merley Scout Group, until our own Troop was formed later the same year, when we became a Scout Group in our own right. Beavers became part of the group in 1988.

The Beavers meet on Mondays at the Church, 1730-1900, followed by the Cubs, 1900-2030. The Scouts still meet at the Community Centre, 1930-2030, on Thursdays.

We cover a large range of Scouting activities, including the Cub and Scout Camps, which happen at least twice a year. We also try to join in with District events, where the boys can interact with boys from other groups.

So far this term, the Cub Pack have shared a meeting with the Scout Troop, started work on the Scientist and Communicator Badges, and visited Mudeford Lifeboat Station, where ex-Cox Vic Derham allowed us to sit in their Atlantic 21, and tell us all about the RNLI. We are also attending Redhill Fire Station, with a future visit to Christchurch Police Station early next year, and a follow-up talk from WPC Beth Du Lieu.

All the sections have a full ratio of boys to leader, but we do have a waiting list facility. Our Scout Leader can always be contacted for further information - Sam Fry - 07818 675803.
