First Bearwood Open Evening a “Great Success”

It may not have been the most attended event, but Bearwood’s first Community Open Evening was deemed a success.

Community Liaison Assistant, Lynne Payton, who organised the meeting in October, said: “The Evening was a success for all parties involved. Bearwood Residents had the opportunity to hear about the activities and help offered in the community.”

Ms Payton went on to explain the reasons behind the evening. “The Bearwood Development Group was set-up to encourage residents to become active in the future of Bearwood. The Open Evening was a major part of this, as is the Bearwood Community in Action group, which meets monthly.”

The Community in Action group had a stand, as well as the Gardening Club, Citizens Advice Bureau, and many other organisations. The children had fun too, with face painting and drawing on offer, thanks to Adelphi Playschemes ‘Kiddie Corner’.

Ann Williams, Community Health Visitor, said: “The Evening was great, helping to raise the profile of Bearwood, and keeping residents informed about opportunities.”

It is hoped that there will be a similar event in the future.
