Girls can now play football!

It’s official! Girls can now play football in the leagues, with the boys. However, they are only being allowed to play at the mini-soccer level - up to Under 10’s (under 10 years as at 31.08.00).

Are there any girls who want to show the boys how to play football? If so, please contact either John Board (580047) or myself for details. The new season kicks off on 10 September, and we still have vacancies in U9’s and U10’s (boys and girls), and also in the U14’s, 15’s and 16’s squads.

Unfortunately, we had to withdraw U7’s and U8’s due to lack of support both from players and parents. Parental support is vital to the club, not only in encouraging the players, but also in helping with transport and perhaps coaching the children.

Bearwood United is the main youth football team serving this area. We can offer good opportunities for local children to play competitive football within a well-run club and league structure.

Every club needs a good secretary. This one is retiring at the end of this season, after five years. So we are looking for a willing volunteer to fill this responsible (but not especially onerous) position. If anyone is interested in hearing more, please give me a ring.
