Sad farewell to Roger Baker

It’s a sad farewell to Roger Baker, local resident and youth worker on the Bearwood Estate. Roger will be taking up a full-time post as Youth Worker for St Andrew’s Church in Bournemouth, and will be sadly missed by all who have known him over the last 13 years.

A committed Christian, Roger has been a regular member of the Bearwood Church. His presence will be a sad loss to the congregation, and all who have known him for his kindness and generosity.

He will be best remembered for his contribution to the local Youth Club, based in the Community Centre, which he has run for the past 3 years. I believe that he has earned the respect of many of the young people on the estate, particularly for his humour and outstanding skills as a footballer, organising the local church games, and enthusing the players to give their best.

The estate will be a quieter place without Roger’s stories and jokes to liven up conversations. I hope you will join with me in wishing Roger, Beverly and their family every happiness for the future, and best wishes for the new job. Congratulations!
